Warranty & Crash replacement policy.

What is your standard warranty?

All South Industries rims are covered by a LIFETIME WARRANTY, to be free from
manufacturing defects in material and / or workmanship. We are always in your
corner in this regard. This warranty applies to the original owner, who has registered their rims with us, and can provide a date of purchase, as shown on their proof of purchase.

What is your crash replacement policy?

Beyond the LIFETIME WARRANTY, we have a LIFETIME INCIDENT PROGRAM. South Industries products are engineered for performance, durability, and ride quality. We get it. Sometimes, you exceed the limits.
Crashes are a part of our sport. All rims under two years of age from date of sale will be replaced free of charge. Rims older than 2 years from date of sale will be replaced at 50% of RRP. All non-riding incidents, like driving your roof-mounted bikes into the garage or melting your rim on your exhaust, will be replaced at 50% of RRP.

When the proverbial hits the fan, we are in your corner. Parts, labor, and shipping are
NOT covered by South Industries. If your product has been badly used, maintained, serviced, and cared for, that will directly impact the lifespan of the product, and will not be covered by our LIFETIME INCIDENT PROGRAM. Improper installations and setups are also not covered by the LIFETIME INCIDENT PROGRAM.

In short, if you are in our corner, we are in yours. Requirements to qualify are that you
are the original owner of the South Industries product, and product registration has been completed. You will need your serial numbers and proof of purchase.

Both warranty procedures are valid for rims manufactured from August 2019 and
onward.

If you have not yet registered your South Industries rims, we highly recommend you do so by going to the registration page in the header of the webiste.

Technical

Do you have a maximum rider weight limit?

Our 29XC wheel has been optimised for optimum performance and we recommend a
maximum racing weight of 95kg (rider and gear). Our GX rim has a maximum rider
weight of 120kg (rider and gear). Our Enduro range of wheels have no specific
weight limit.

What is the recommended spoke tension

For MTB wheels we recommend 110kgF on the drive side and for our road/gravel
rims we recommend 120 kgF. The maximum tension is 130 kgF. Please take note of
the maximum tension specified by your hub manufacturer. The use of straight gauge spokes is NOT recommended and we will not entertain any warranties for wheels built with straight gauge spokes.

Are Hookless rims safe to ride?

YES! Hookless technology allows us to manufacture our rim well to much higher tolerances than a conventional hooked rim ensuring better compatibility with all major tyre manufacturers tubeless tyres. NOTE our
hookless road rim are tubeless only and should only be used with compatible
tubeless tyres. Tubeless tyre are manufactured to higher tolerances and have
stronger/stiffer beads that will not stretch when inflated.

Can I use standard, non-tubeless tyres on hookless rims?

NO! Non tubeless specific tyres do not have strong enough bead to ensure a tight tubeless seal and too prevent the tyre from
stretching under high pressures.

What rim tape do you recommend?

We recommend using a smooth plastic rim tape and applying two layers. Our rim wells are designs to a very tight tolerances and the use of a fibre re-enforced tape or building up the rim well with electrical tape prior to
applying the tubeless tape affects the overall diameter which could negatively impact compatibility with some tyres.

care / maintenance

How do I care for my South Industries products?
  • Regularly wash your rims using a mild soapy solution.
  • Store your wheels out of direct sunlight if possible.
  • Take care when removing tyres using a tyre lever. Never use metal tyre levers. Always ensure that the tyre bead is pushed back into the rim well before trying to remove the tyre with a tyre lever. You should not have to use excessive force to remove a tyre.
  • Before each ride inspect your rims for any chips, cracks or bulges, get in touch if something looks out of place before using the affected rim info@southindustries.cc
  • TAKE CARE WHEN USING HITCH/TOW BAR MOUNTED BIKE CARRIERS! Heat can cause the epoxy resin to melt causing permanent damage to your rim! We recommend at least 500mm of clearance between your car’s exhaust an your tyre/rim. The same damage could be caused by other external heat source, take care when storing your bike to keep them clear of any heat source.
